The cup
Founded in 2005 by Martin Hildebrandt, the 2001 World Barista Champion, Kontra is one of the oldest specialty coffee roasteries in Copenhagen. The Østerbro address combines a cafe, an equipment showroom and a barista training classroom, with a 1952 Probat drum roaster at the heart of the operation. Kontra supplied equipment and training to a significant share of Copenhagen's specialty scene in its first decade, giving the company an influence that reaches well beyond its own cup.
